EASTON, Mass. (September 28, 2023) –The Stonehill College men's soccer team battled Northeast Conference opponent Sacred Heart University to a 1-1 draw at Skyhawk Field on Thursday afternoon.

First-year student Tiago Lima-Bittencourt scored his third goal of the season in the 90 minute to secure a 1-1 tie for the Skyhawks. 
 
- 
Senior goalkeeper Carlos Dias Neto recorded six saves in going the full 90 minutes in net for Stonehill. 
 
- 
Senior captain Jacob Woznicki finished the game tying his season high of five shot attempts against the Pioneers.

Senior forward Olliver Persson scored the lone goal for Sacred Heart, marking his team-leading fifth on the year.
 
- 
Postgrad netminder Andrew Hammersley tallied one save in goal for the Pioneers.

Stonehill wasted little time applying offensive pressure as junior Colin Milliken rocketed a shot on goal at the 1:06 mark of the opening half.

The Skyhawks would continue their pressure throughout the first half, registering 11 shot attempts to Sacred Hearts five. However, both sides would head into the break scoreless.

After 75 minutes of scoreless play had gone by, the Pioneers would open the scoring in the 76th minute of the contest after a loose ball inside the box found the back of the net off the right foot of Persson.

In the waning minutes of the contest, Stonehill was in search of the equalizer when Woznicki drew a foul just outside the 18-yard box, resulting in a free-kick attempt to be taken by Bittencourt.

The first-year forward stepped up to the ball and bent a shot around a wall of defenders, finding the upper left corner of the Sacred Heart net to tie the game up at one apiece at the 89:40 mark. 
 
 
 
Stonehill (1-4-4, 0-1-2 NEC) visits Brown University on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at 7 P.M. Sacred Heart (4-5-1, 1-0-1 NEC) continues its conference slate on Sunday, hosting LIU at 5 P.M.
