Early Goals Propel Le Moyne Over Men’s Soccer

EASTON, Mass. (October 12, 2024) – Stonehill men's soccer allowed two first-half goals to Le Moyne College as the Skyhawks fell in a Northeast Conference matchup against the Dolphins at W.B. Mason Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Highlights
  • Junior Jared Rapoza (Somerset, Mass.) led the Skyhawks with two shots and had the only shot on goal for Stonehill, getting turned away by Wyatt Dupell in the first half.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Tencza (Waldwick, N.J.) made his fourth start in net for the Skyhawks this season, falling to 0-3-1. This was his first start since Aug. 29 at Colgate.
  • Le Moyne goalie Wyatt Dupell had one save in the shutout win for the Dolphins, improving to 5-1-4 this season as he's started and played all 90 minutes in all ten games for Le Moyne.
  • Vito Kreuzpainter netted his first goal of the season for the Dolphins while Jack Goodrich notched his first assist of the season.
  • Le Moyne's Brady McNulty scored his second goal of the season while Justin Pham picked up his second assist when the Dolphins scored in the 28th minute.
How it Happened
The first shot of the game came in the 13th minute from Le Moyne's Justin Pham but his attempt went wide left as the Skyhawks were awarded a goal kick.

The first scoring opportunity for either team came in the 18th minute as sophomore Tiago Lima-Bittencourt (Charlotte, N.C.) lofted a centering pass towards the 18-yard box as Rapoza was sprinting down the middle of the field, but Dupell raced out of the box to meet the sophomore head on, turning Rapoza's shot away.

Le Moyne's Jack Goodrich lined up a free kick from about 30 yards out, firing a pass into the box where Vito Kreuzpainter netted the opening goal off his right foot to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute.

Le Moyne tacked on another goal in the 28th minute off a Justin Pham corner kick that found the head of Brady McNulty who guided the ball into the bottom right corner of the net from just in front of the right post to put the Dolphins ahead 2-0.

In the 42nd minute, sophomore Christopher Hines (Newburyport, Mass.) had a chance at scoring as he got his right foot on a loose ball just outside of the box, but it sailed just over the crossbar as Stonehill would be held scoreless through the first half.

Stonehill outshot Le Moyne 6-3 in the second half, but none of the Skyhawk shots found their way on net as the Dolphin defense held strong for the final 45. Tencza turned away one shot on net in the second half to keep Le Moyne from adding to its 2-0 lead.
