SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 12, 2024) – The Stonehill College Volleyball team dropped a four-set match at Ted Grant Court Saturday afternoon, falling to Le Moyne College in a Northeast Conference contest.
 
Le Moyne 3, Stonehill 1 (16-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-25)
 
Highlights

• Sophomore Abby Farrell (Reading, Mass.) recorded a career-high 10 kills with an impressive .625 hit percentage, leading Stonehill with 14 points as she also recorded a team-high three service aces and two block assists.
• Freshman Paloma Gonzalez Jaramillo (Wylie, Texas) had seven kills and a .357 hit percentage while junior Mia Berardino (Rowley, Mass.) notched six kills and a team-high 10 digs.
• Sophomore Amaya Parnell (Portland, Ore.) led the Skyhawks with 11 assists, while sophomore Maddie Schamaun (Rockville, Md.) had 10 assists and matched Farrell's team-high of three service aces.

SET 1 | The two NEC opponents started the first set with five ties until a 5-0 run for Le Moyne gave the Dolphins a 12-7 lead. From that point on, Le Moyne ended the first set on a 13-9 run, winning the opening frame, 25-16. Three different Dolphins had four kills to lead Le Moyne to a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
SET 2 | After dropping the first point of the second set, Stonehill went on a 5-0 run with kills from Berardino and Gonzalez Jaramillo fueling the Skyhawks' run. Le Moyne responded, tying the set at 7-7 but the Dolphins never tied Stonehill or took the lead for the remainder of the set as the Skyhawks won the second set 25-14 to tie the match at 1-1. Gonzalez Jaramillo had five kills in the second set to lead Stonehill.
 
SET 3 | Stonehill and Le Moyne found themselves tied five times in the early stages of the third set, similar to the opening set of the match, and like the first set, the Dolphins would use another run to build a four-point lead, 11-7. Three straight errors from the Dolphins brought Stonehill within one, 14-13, but Le Moyne ended the set outscoring the Skyhawks 11-6, winning the third set, 25-19. Stonehill had just four kills and one ace in the set, with the rest of the scoring coming off Dolphin errors.
 
SET 4 | Le Moyne came out the gate red hot, building an 11-3 lead as the Dolphins never trailed in the fourth and final set. Branwyn Lupton led Le Moyne with five kills in the fourth set as the Dolphins won the match, 3-1, with its 25-15 set win.

Stonehill Volleyball hosts LIU next weekend for two Northeast Conference matches at Merkert Gym with the first being on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. followed by another on Saturday at 1 p.m. against the Sharks.
