Highlights
  • Junior Mia Berardino (Rowley, Mass.) led the Skyhawks with 11 kills on a .250 hitting percentage while recording two block assists, three digs, and an assist.

  • Senior captain Emma Graves (Vestal, N.Y.) had six kills and two block assists to record seven points, while fellow senior captain Leah Michalowski (Holden, Mass.) led Stonehill with four block assists.
SET 1 | LIU began Friday's NEC matchup with four of the first five points, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. Stonehill would tie the score once at 6-6, but the Sharks never gave up their lead for the entirety of the first set. Berardino rallied for the Skyhawks with three kills and Graves added a kill of her own to make it 16-15, but that would be the closest Stonehill would get as the Sharks closed out the opening frame, 25-16.

SET 2 | LIU took another early lead in the second set, leading 8-4 after a pair of Skyhawk errors. Stonehill stayed in the set, keeping the Sharks within at least five, 14-9, until a 9-4 run from the Skyhawks tied the set at 18-18. Despite the Stonehill run, LIU closed out the second set strong, outscoring the Skyhawks 7-4, winning the set, 25-22.

SET 3 | Stonehill took its first lead of the match at the beginning of the third set, jumping out to a 3-2 advantage. LIU would reclaim the lead, 6-4, but Stonehill responded with a kill from Graves to tie the match at 7-7. After the Graves kill, the Sharks went on a 6-0 run and never looked back. LIU would win the final set and the match, 25-13.
