How it Happened
Throughout the opening 20 minutes of the conference contest, Stonehill and FDU played back-and-forth throughout the middle third of the pitch, with neither side registering many offensive opportunities.
However, at the 21:22 mark, the Knights would find the back of the net to open the scoring in the conference bout. Martinez floated a shot into the top-right corner of the Skyhawks net over a leaping Sougaris to put FDU up by one midway through the opening half.
In the 35th minute, the Knights would increase their lead to 2-0 when Salas sent a corner kick into the box from the nearside corner, where Ougaard headed the ball into the lower left corner inside the post for her second goal of the season.
With five minutes left in the first half, Dumaresq nearly cut into the Skyhawks' two-goal deficit, lofting a shot towards the back left post. However, Leblanc would be in the correct position to grab the save and keep Stonehill off the board heading into the halftime break.
Coming out into the second half of action, the Skyhawks would look to find the back of the net and generate offensive zone pressure. However, FDU would hold the Skyhawks to two shot attempts over the final 45 minutes of play, as the Knights would walk away victorious by a final score of 2-0.
