How It Happened
Lake Superior State came out of the gates strong, outshooting Stonehill 10-1 over the first five minutes of play. With 15 minutes to play in the opening frame, the Lakers would light the lamp and take an early 1-0 lead when Ahlrik found a loose puck inside the crease and jammed the puck into the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
Teleguine doubled the Lake Superior State advantage at the 12:05 mark of the second period on the power play. Druskinis dished a pass along the blue line over to Teleguine, who skated down towards the far side faceoff dot and rifled a shot over the glove of Androlewicz and into the back of the cage for his first lamplighter of the season.
Following an extended delay due to the glass breaking after a hit placed by sophomore defender
Charlie Banquier, the Skyhawks would look to cut into their two-goal deficit. At the 16:30 mark of the second, sophomore
Dominick Campione would ring a shot off the crossbar on the power play, nearly cutting the gap to 2-1.
However, less than a minute after the conclusion of the Skyhawks skater advantage, Lake Superior State would tack its third goal on the board. After Androlewicz made a save on a tough angle shot by senior
Jordan Venegoni, Ahlrik would be there to pounce on the rebound and push the puck over the goal line for his second goal of the night.
Despite outshooting the Lakers, 19-8, throughout the final frame of regulation, the Skyhawks would fall short on the road by a final score of 3-0.
