Women’s Cross Country Places Fourth at NEC Championships

Jordan Malloy leads Skyhawks, finishes third overall to cap off stellar season

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (November 1, 2024) – Junior Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) placed third in the five-kilometer Northeast Conference Championship race at Stanley Quarter Park Friday afternoon, leading the Stonehill women's cross country team to a fourth-place finish.
 
Central Connecticut's Brooke Morabito won the 5K race, setting a course and NEC records, finishing in 16:39.6. Morabito and four other Blue Devil runners finished in the top 11 as CCSU won the Championship with 39 points.
 
Saint Francis placed second with 57 points and Wagner placed third with 62. The Skyhawks notched 83 points to place fourth while LIU, Mercyhurst, Le Moyne, FDU, and Chicago State rounded out the final standings.
 
Highlights
  • Malloy placed third out of 77 runners with a time of 17:32.2, earning a spot on the NEC All-Conference Team for the second season in a row.
  • Malloy has placed in the top 10 in five consecutive races dating back to the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational on Sept. 7.
  • Senior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) was the second Skyhawk to finish, earning her second consecutive All-Conference nod, placing 14th at 18:28.5.
  • Sophomore Kellie Harrington (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished 17th overall, narrowly missing the All-Conference team as she crossed the finish line at 18:40.9.
  • Freshman Mallory Hildreth (Pittsford, N.Y.) made the All-Rookie Team, finishing with a personal record of 19:00.7 in the 5K as she placed 23rd.
  • Sophomore Sydney Kalil (Milford, Mass.) was the fifth and final point-scorer for the Skyhawks, finishing in 26th at 19:06.8.

  • Sophomore Iasmim De Sousa-Vieira (Medford, Mass.) clocked in at 19:25.2, placing 29th overall.
  • Freshman Emmy Belvin (Chepachet, R.I.) ran the 5k race in 19:36.1 to place 32nd in her first NEC Championship.
  • Freshman Isabelle Groulx (Chester, N.H.) also made her NEC Championship debut, crossing the finish line at 19:48.0, good for a 36th-place finish.
  • Finishing back-to-back in 38th and 39th place were freshman Rachael Korowski (Hudson, Mass.) and sophomore Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.). Korowski PR'd in the 5k with her time of 19:50.6 while Casey also hit a new PR at 19:52.7.

Stonehill Cross Country concludes its fall campaign and will be back in action for the indoor track and field season beginning on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Brown Alden Invitational at the Olney-Margoles Athletic Center in Providence.
