EASTON, Mass. (August 12, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's cross country team has been selected to finish in a tie for second place in the 2025 NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the third consecutive year the Skyhawks have been projected to finish either second outright or tied for second in the poll, following a fourth-place prediction ahead of their inaugural NEC season in 2022.
Despite being unseated by Stonehill at the 2023 NEC Championship, Central Connecticut State has continued to hold onto the top spot in the preseason coaches' poll for the sixth consecutive year, collecting seven of the conference's ten first-place votes. Stonehill, which did not receive a first-place vote, sits in a tie for second with Wagner, who earned two. Saint Francis rounds out the top four and secured the remaining first-place vote.
Led by two-time NEC Coach of the Year
Karen Boen, the Skyhawks welcome six newcomers to a returning core of 13 student-athletes, including six of the top seven finishers from last year's NEC Championship squad.
Among the returners is senior
Jordan Malloy, a three-time All-NEC honoree. After placing ninth at the NEC Championships in both 2022 and 2023, Malloy surged to a third-place individual finish in 2024—marking the highest finish by a Stonehill runner at the Division I level, and the program's best since
Sam Curtin '20 placed third at the 2019 Northeast-10 Championships.
