How It Happened
After a back-and-forth start to the non-conference matchup, Dartmouth would eventually open the scoring midway through the opening frame at the 9:17 mark of the first period. With the Big Green on a five-on-three skater advantage, senior
Sean Chisholm would light the lamp on his first goal of the season, whistling a shot off the boards underneath the blocker of Lipskis and into the back of the net.
Coming out of the break into the second period, Dartmouth would open the floodgates, tallying four goals in the middle frame to jump out to a commanding 5-0 lead over the Skyhawks. In the second, netting goals for the Big Green were freshman
Hayden Stavroff, junior
Cam MacDonald, Fusco, and Nikora.
The Skyhawks came out of the gates strong in the third and final frame of regulation, peppering the Big Green defense and Croteau with ten shot attempts over the opening six minutes. At the 6:16 mark of the third, Stonehill would break through and score its first goal when Hunter capitalized on an in-close rebound off a shot from Hastings just outside the crease on a delayed penalty.
Three minutes after Hunter lit the lamp on his second goal of the year, Orr would one-time past Croteau on the power-play, cutting the Skyhawks' deficit to three with just over 10 minutes left in regulation. However, despite the two early goals in the third, Dartmouth's advantage proved too much for Stonehill to overcome, as the Skyhawks fell to the Big Green by a final score of 5-2.
