PROVIDENCE, R.I. (December 7, 2024) - The Stonehill College men's track and field team began its indoor season at the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center as the team competed in the 38th Annual Alden Invitational hosted by Brown University.
Stonehill totaled 57 points as a team as the Skyhawks placed fifth out of seven. Holy Cross won the meet with 107 points, while Rhode Island was close behind in second place with 104. New Hampshire rounded out the top three with 91.5 points.
FIELD EVENTS
- Graduate student Jacob Pacheco (Merrimack, N.H.) and sophomore Drew Pierson (Ellsworth, Maine) tied for ninth place in the high jump as both cleared a mark of 1.87m (6' 1.5").
- After competing in the high jump, Pacheco placed second in the pole vault, reaching a height of 4.60m (15' 1").
- Freshman Quinn Hardt (Franklin, Mass.) made his collegiate track and field debut, placing seventh in the high jump with a leap of 6.84m (22' 5.25").
- Sophomore Max Bishop (Hopkinton, N.H.) was the lone Skyhawk to compete in the weight throw, placing 16th with a toss of 13.07m (42' 10.75").
- Sophomore Joseph Chesney (Cumberland, R.I.) placed eighth in the shot put, reaching 13.38m (43' 10.75") with his throw.
- Junior Eli Grover (Falmouth, Maine) hit a mark of 13.02m (42' 8.75") in the shot put to come in 10th place.
RUNNING EVENTS
- Sophomore Matthew Malora (Harrington Park, N.J.) finished the mile run in 4:31.77, a new personal record in the event as he placed 10th.
- Sophomores Ean Hynes (Newburyport, Mass.) and Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass.) finished back-to-back in the 60-meter hurdles finals, placing fourth and fifth as Hynes clocked in at 8.45 seconds while Tinkham finished in 8.52 seconds, matching his PR.
- Hardt also competed in the 60m hurdles as the freshman finished in 8.52 seconds in the prelims.
- Freshman Miles Burr (Trenton, Maine) made his collegiate debut for the Skyhawks, placing fourth in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 6.94 seconds.
- Fellow freshman Tristan Roche (Fairfield, Conn.) narrowly missed the cut for the 60m dash finals, finishing eighth in the prelims with a time of 7.01 seconds in his collegiate debut.
- Senior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.) PR'd in the 300-meter race, placing second with a time of 35.42 seconds.
- Sophomore Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) also recorded a new PR in the 300m race as he came in 10th place, crossing the finish line in 36.32 seconds.
- Freshman Nathan Binda (Auburn, N.H.) made his Stonehill debut, running in the 1,000-meter race and placing 16th with a time of 2:38.61.
- Graduate student Patrick Garratt (Westwood, Mass.) placed fifth in the 3000-meter race, clocking in at 8:43.93.
- Sophomores Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) and Nicholas Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) finished seventh and eighth in the 3000m race with times of 8:47.57, a new PR for Pereira and 8:54.86 for Davies.
