Freshman Daniel Velez Earns First Place Finish in the Pole Vault as Men's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at UMass Lowell Invite

LOWELL, Mass. (March 27, 2026) – The Stonehill men's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the UMass Lowell D'Amour Invitational on Friday afternoon.

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS

Sophomore Miles Burr placed second in the 100-meters with a time 10.83, eight hundredths off first place Daniel Kennedy from UMass Lowell.
Junior Brody McGrail placed fifth in the 100-meter with a personal-best time of 10.94.
Junior Jack Dougherty placed in the top-10 of the 100-meter with a time of 11.09.
Freshman Kieran Miller finished fourth in the 200-meter with a personal-best time of 23.13.
Miller also clocked a personal-best time of 11.21 in the 100-meter.
Freshman Owen Partridge and Cam Begley finished second and third in the 400-meters, clocking time of 50.63 and 50.81, respectively.
Freshman Joshua Geer finished placed third in the 3000-meters with a personal-best time of 8:52.61.
Freshman Brian Stevens clocked a personal-best time of 57.39 to finish third in the 400-meter hurdles.
Junior Drew Pierson placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters.
Freshman Daniel Velez finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.30 meters, while fellow freshman Matthew Dawson finished third with a personal-best mark of 3.85 meters.
Junior Joseph Chesney placed third in the discus with a mark of 44.07.
Freshman Ayden Gleeson posted a personal-best mark of 53.40 meters to finish second in the hammer throw.
Freshman James Scott posted a personal-best mark of 51.49 in the javelin to finish third.
