Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (September 4, 2024)The Stonehill College volleyball team fell in three sets at the Chace Athletic Center at Bryant University Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup.

Highlights
  • Sophomore Abby Farrell (Reading, Mass.) led the Skyhawks with three kills, two solo blocks, an ace, and a block assist, totaling 6.5 points.
  • Sophomore Amaya Parnell (Pepperell, Mass.) had a team-high nine assists and five digs, leading Stonehill in helpers for the fourth straight match.
  • Junior Mia Berardino (Rowley, Mass.) notched three points for the Skyhawks on three kills and had four digs on the defensive end.
SET 1 | The Skyhawks and Bulldogs went back and forth to begin the match leading to a 6-5 Bryant lead but four straight scores and 16 of the next 18 points gave the Bulldogs a commanding 22-8 lead in the set. Bryant would close out the first set, 25-10, taking a 1-0 match lead.
 
SET 2 | Despite going down four points early, the Skyhawks countered with four straight points to tie the set at 8-8 before eventually taking a 14-13 lead. The Bulldogs responded with the next 10 points, putting the second set out of reach, ultimately securing a 25-17 win.
 
SET 3 | The third set was in control for Bryant from the start, scoring the first three points and building an 11-5 lead. The Bulldogs would defend their home court, winning the final set 25-13, and the match overall.

Stonehill Volleyball will play three matches at the Malkin Athletic Center in Cambridge, Mass. at the Harvard Invitational with a 7 p.m. match against the Crimson on Friday, Sept. 6 before playing New Hampshire at 10 a.m. and Merrimack at 4 p.m. the next day.
