BOSTON, Mass. (January 31, 2025) - The Stonehill College track and field team won multiple events at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center as the Skyhawks hosted the Reggie Open presented by the Boston Athletic Association on Friday.
Not competing in the Reggie Open on Friday were graduate student
Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) and junior
Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.), who were invited to the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday.
Encarnacao competed in both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, placing 20th in the 200m (25.39 seconds) and 12th in the 400m (55.96 seconds). Malloy ran in the mile race and placed 82nd out of 206 runners, finishing in 4:59.99.
WOMEN'S EVENTS
- Freshmen Hannah Santos (Swansea, Mass.), Simone Connolly (West Roxbury, Mass.), and Mollie Osgood (Wilmington, Mass.) placed second and in a tie for third in the high jump as Santos led the Skyhawks with a mark of 1.68m (5' 6") while Connolly and Osgood reached 1.60m (5' 3").
- Sophomore Kayla Oakes (Kingston, N.Y.) placed third in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.34m (17' 6.25").
- Freshman Makenna Dube (North Andover, Mass.) placed third in the shot put on Friday with a toss of 10.58m (34' 8.5"). Dube also reached a PR of 11.61m (38' 1.25") in the weight throw, placing seventh.
- Winning the triple jump was junior Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) who reached a distance of 10.65m (34' 11.25").
- Senior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) won the 60-meter hurdles on Friday, finishing in a season-best 8.95 seconds, the second-fastest time in the NEC this season.
- Freshman Aly Bassett (Easton, Mass.) placed fourth in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 9.57 seconds, the fastest indoor time of her young career and the eighth fastest time in the conference.
- Rousseau also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing second with a personal record of 25.89 seconds, ranking seventh in the NEC.
- Sophomore Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) and junior Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) placed sixth and seventh in the 200m dash, finishing in 26.25 seconds and 26.48 seconds.
- Stott and Tyrrell also finished in second and third place in the 400-meter race, finishing milliseconds apart as they both recorded times of 59.09 seconds.
- Five of the top six finishers in the 1000-meter race were Skyhawks, led by a top three of freshman Emmy Belvin (Chepachet, R.I.), sophomore Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.), and freshman Mallory Hildreth (Pittsfield, Mass.). Belvin paced the pack with a time of 3:00.16, followed by Casey at 3.00.20 and Hildreth at 3:00.58.
- Senior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) won the mile race at 5:11.42, the ninth-fastest mile time in the conference.
- Sophomore Iasmim De Sousa Vieira (Medford, Mass.) and freshman Isabelle Groulx (Chester, N.H.) placed third and fourth in the mile, finishing at 5:24.08 and 5:24.53.
- Sophomore Sydney Kalil (Milford, Mass.) won the 5000-meter race with a time of 19:24.69
MEN'S EVENTS
- Sophomore Drew Pierson (Ellsworth, Maine) placed second in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.90m (6' 2.75"), his second-best jump of the season.
- Freshman Kenly Laime (West Bridgewater, Mass.) finished in third in the high jump, tying Pierson's mark of 1.90m (6' 2.75"), a new personal record.
- Senior Parker Hagen (Newport, R.I.) won the triple jump with a season-best leap of 13.66m (44' 9.75") while Pierson came in second at 13.23m (43' 5").
- In the shot put, sophomore Joseph Chesney (Cumberland, R.I.) was runner-up with a toss of 14.38m (47' 2.25") which marked the second-best throw of his career.
- Freshman Tristan Roche (Fairfield, Conn.) won the 60-meter dash as he paced the pack with a time of 6.95 seconds, a new personal record.
- Classmate Miles Burr (Trenton, Maine) won the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in just 22.24 seconds.
- Winning the 400-meter race was senior Louis Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.), who finished in 50.64 seconds, his personal best in the event.
- Senior Thomas Forde (Mystic, Conn.) picked up a bronze finish in the 500-meter race as he clocked in at 1:09.80.
- Junior David DiPietro (Beverly, Mass.) ran in his first 800-meter race of the winter, placing second at 2:04.36.
- The top three finishers in the mile race were all Skyhawks, led by freshman Ethan Fadden (Bellingham, Mass.), who took home the first-place finish at 4:23.56. Sophomore Nicholas Davies (Auckland, New Zealand) finished second less than a hundredth of a second later, and sophomore Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) placed third at 4:26.76.
- Freshman Jaxson Merrill (Barnstable, Mass.) had a silver finish in the 3000-meter race, clocking in at 9:13.81, the best time of his young career.
- Placing first in the 60-meter hurdles was sophomore Ean Hynes (Newburyport, Mass.) at 8.25 seconds while classmate William Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass) finished as the runner-up at 8.35 seconds.
- The Stonehill men's Distance Medley Relay team won the event as Davies, Warner, sophomore Matthew Malora (Harrington Park, N.J.), and senior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine) finished in 10:40.39.
