HACKENSACK, N.J. – The Stonehill volleyball dropped a three-set match to FDU, 3-0, in NEC action on Friday evening.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Kendra Sawyer paced the offense with 24 assists while registering a pair of block assists.
- Senior Mia Berardino and freshman Emaline Ealey led the way with eight kills.
- Freshman Cat Detweiler was flawless from the floor posting a .625 attack percentage with five kills on eight attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was a back-and-forth barnburner between the Skyhawks and Knights. Stonehill had a slim one-point lead, 16-15 late in the set before FDU rattled off four straight points to take an 18-16 lead and force Head Coach
Craig Martin to call his first timeout. FDU never looked back and took the 1-0 match advantage with the 25-20 lead.
FDU kept its momentum rolling into the second set. Junior
Abby Farrell was perfect from the floor for the Skyhawks registering three kills on three attempts but it was not quite enough to keep pace with a Knight team that hit .318 en route to the 25-13 win.
In the third set, senior
Mia Berardino kept the Skyhawks in the contest hitting .333 with three kills on six attempts and just one error, but the Knights kept the pressure on and took the third set, and the match, 25-17.
