How it Happened
Stonehill wasted no time getting on the board, striking just five minutes into the conference matchup. NEC-leading scorer Anselmo picked up her first assist of the season when she set up Foley for her second goal, giving the Skyhawks an early 1-0 edge.
After a back-and-forth remainder of the opening half, LIU pulled level when Hall drew a foul inside the 18-yard box and converted the ensuing penalty kick, sending the game into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Skyhawks applied pressure early in the second half, generating five shot attempts—including three on target—within the opening 18 minutes. But at the 74:10 mark, the Sharks broke through, as Stein connected with Beauregard for her first goal of the season to give LIU a 2-1 advantage.
Despite outshooting the Sharks the rest of the way, Stonehill was unable to find the equalizer and ultimately fell by a 2-1 final.
