Second Half Comeback Comes Up Short Against Wagner

EASTON, Mass. – The Stonehill women's soccer team nearly completed an epic second half comeback against Wagner College in an early October Sunday matinee.

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior Hannah Anselmo recorded two goals in a game for the third time this season.
  • Freshman Dani Lomuscio registered her first collegiate goal scoring in the 61st minute.
  • Lomuscio finished the game with a goal and an assist for three points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks struck first in the opening five minutes. After being awarded a corner kick, freshman Dani Lomuscio placed the ball strategically in front of the goal senior Hannah Anselmo to knock in her, team-leading, ninth goal of the season.
Stonehill continued to dominate the possession game for most of the fist half, however in the 26th minute Wagner scored the equalizer. Despite the Skyhawks controlling the game, the Seahawks capitalized on the possessions they had and scored three times in the next eight minutes to take a 4-1 lead into the break.

Coming back onto the field in the second half, the Skyhawks showed resilience and mounted a dramatic comeback. In the 53rd minute, Annie Renz connected with Anselmo for her second goal of the game and cut the lead in half, 4-2. Eight minutes later Lomuscio brought Stonehill back to within one with her first collegiate goal. But it was as close they would get.
