ERIE, Pa. – The Stonehill women's volleyball team dropped a four-set match to Mercyhurst, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Mia Berardino registered her seventh double-double of the season tallying 10 kills and 11 digs, while posting a .276 attack percentage.
- Freshman Sam Loyd led the way notching 17 kills on the day.
- Freshman Kendra Sawyer notched 29 assists to pace the offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After dropping the first set, the Skyhawks stormed back and tied up the match, winning the second set. Hitting an outstanding .312 as a team, Stonehill was able to take the second set, 25-18. Freshman

Mia Berardino was flawless from the floor, tallying three kills on nine attempts.
The Lakers responded and re-gained the lead in the match with a 25-17. However, the Skyhawks were not giving up and battled valiantly to force fifth set. Berardino notched four kills in the fourth set while Loyd and fellow freshman
Kendra Sawyer each added three kills of their own, but it was not enough as the Lakers hung on to a narrow, 25-23 win.
