LORETTO, Pa. – The Stonehill volleyball team fell back to 1-2 in NEC falling to Saint Francis University, 3-0, on the road on Friday evening.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Kendra Sawyer added 16 assists and surpassed the previous program's Division I single-season record with 436 and counting this season.
- Sawyer also recorded three total blocks with two block assists and one solo.
- Mia Berardino, Emaline Ealey and Sam Loyd all led the offense with four kills each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Francis took the 1-0 lead, fending off a late Stonehill comeback in the first set, 25-21. The Skyhawks tried valiantly to chip their way back into the game. Freshman setter
Kendra Sawyer paced the Skyhawk offense with seven assists and in the process eclipsed the program's Division I single-season assists mark.
The Red Flash were able to keep the Skyhawks at bay taking the second set, 25-20, to increase their match lead to 2-0. Saint Francis kept the pressure on in the third set and won the match in three sets with a 25-13 set score.
