How it Happened
Stonehill opened the match with early pressure, drawing a pair of offsides calls while Lomuscio and sophomore
Martha Lord each registered shots on goal within the first 20 minutes of play.
After the early push from the Skyhawks subsided, both sides traded corner kicks and shot attempts throughout the remainder of the half, but neither team could break through as the contest remained scoreless after 45 minutes.
The Skyhawks came out strong to start the second half, recording four shot attempts — two on target — in the first seven minutes of play. At the 54:20 mark, junior
Annie Renz delivered a cross into the six-yard box where Cassidy battled through traffic and chipped a shot past McPheron to give Stonehill a 1-0 advantage with just over 35 minutes left in regulation.
Following the go-ahead tally, Stonehill continued to apply offensive pressure, generating two corner kick opportunities over the next 15 minutes. In the final 20 minutes of regulation, the Skyhawks' defense held firm, turning away Le Moyne's late chances to mount a comeback.
