How It Happened
Syracuse came out strong, striking first just under five minutes into the weekend finale when
Jackson Kinsler and
Joselyn Fiala set up
Stella Costabile for her first goal of the season, giving the Orange an early 1-0 lead. Just over five minutes later, at the 10:17 mark,
Rylee McLeod doubled the advantage as Syracuse carried a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Orange extended their lead in the second period with a four-goal outburst, including power-play tallies from Gnade (7:39), Armstrong (8:05, 16:08), and
Haley Trudeau (15:03), building a commanding 6-0 cushion heading into the third.
Stonehill broke through 8:48 into the final frame when Bibeau raced down the near side and fired a wrist shot under the crossbar and over Paquin's shoulder for her first collegiate goal. Moments later, at 11:52, Combe collected a feed from Whynot, deked through the defense, and backhanded a shot past Paquin for her first collegiate tally, trimming the deficit to 6-2. However, late goals from Blouin and Charlotte Hallette sealed the 8-2 victory for Syracuse.
