BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Stonehill women's volleyball team fell to top of the conference LIU in three sets, 3-0, on Friday evening.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Head Coach Craig Martin coached his 179th game at the helm of the Skyhawks becoming the coach with the most games coached, eclipsing Lauren Amundson.
- Freshman setter Kendra Sawyer paced the offense with 11 assists.
- Junior Abby Farrell registered four kills and two total blocks – one solo and one block assist.
- Junior Sammy Franco led the way with five kills on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LIU jumped out in front early, hitting .310 as a team to take the first set, 25-14. The Sharks continued to stay hot offensively turning in a dominating performance in the second set, posting a .526 attack percentage to take the two-set advantage.
The Skyhawks battled tough in the third set behind a pair of kills from freshmen
Cat Detweiler and
Sam Loyd, but they were unable to hold off a potent Shark offense that registered 15 kills with zero attack errors.
