How It Happened
Following a back-and-forth start to the opening frame, Stonehill narrowly outshot Alaska–Anchorage 12–4 through the first 10 minutes of regulation. However, the Seawolves struck first with 8:15 remaining in the period. After a board battle below the goal line, Aidan Westin came away with the puck and fed Makway, who scored from a sharp angle for his second tally of the year.
Just over four minutes later, Makway doubled the Alaska–Anchorage lead with his second goal of the night, finishing a play set up by Ryan Johnson and David Jesus at the 15:55 mark of the first.
Early in the second period, Stonehill generated quality chances to cut into the deficit, as junior
JJ Grainda and sophomores
Cole Melady and Aben all saw attempts turned aside by Krivtsov. The Seawolves responded at 8:50 of the frame, extending their lead to 3–0 when Warrener buried a feed from Karter McNarland and Conor Cole.
Stonehill controlled the pace down the stretch in the middle period, outshooting Alaska–Anchorage 17–3—including 10 shots on goal—over the final five minutes. Despite the surge, the Skyhawks were unable to break through and entered the second intermission trailing by three.
Just under six minutes into the final frame, the Seawolves added a fourth goal when Spencer redirected a point shot from Camden Shasby past Androlewicz. Although Stonehill finished the night with a 35–29 edge in shots on goal, the Skyhawks were unable to mount a comeback and fell by a final score of 4–0.
