Stonehill's Graduation Rates Continue to Rise

EASTON, Mass. (Nov. 19, 2025) – Stonehill College student-athletes excel both on and off the playing surfaces as graduation rates continue to rise, according to information released by NCAA on Wednesday afternoon.

The NCAA's latest annual report revealed a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 95%, a three-percent increase from two years prior.

Of Stonehill's 21 varsity sports* (cross country and track and field being considered one in GSR), 11 achieved a perfect 100 GSR score. The teams that reached perfect scores are men's basketball, men's cross country, men's track and field, men's soccer, women's basketball, field hockey, women's golf, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, softball and women's volleyball.

The Division I Board of Directors created the GSR in response to Division I college and university presidents who wanted data that more accurately reflected the mobility of college students than the federal graduation rate. The federal rate counts any student who leaves a school as an academic failure, no matter whether he or she enrolls at another school. Also, the federal rate does not recognize students who enter school as transfer students.

The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. This calculation makes it a more complete and accurate look at student-athlete success. The federal graduation rate, however, remains the only measure to compare student-athletes with the general student body.

* - This data reflects the cohort of 2015-2018. The inaugural seasons of women's swimming and diving and women's ice hockey was 2021 and 2022-23, respectively.
