How It Happened
Stonehill struck first 14:21 into the opening frame when Sacca lifted a shot over the shoulder of Post netminder Hannah Saunders for her fourth goal of the season. After collecting a pass from below the goal line from Achtyl, Sacca fired her attempt under the crossbar and into the twine to give the Skyhawks the early advantage.
The Skyhawks carried the one-goal lead into the second, but Post responded with a pair of tallies to take its first lead of the afternoon. Jodie Rose evened the score on the power play at 3:41, before Noa Farberman pushed the Eagles ahead at the 12:38 mark with her second goal of the year.
A strong forecheck from Stonehill later in the period forced a turnover along the boards, allowing Walkom to pounce on a loose puck and find Geist cutting toward goal. Geist skated in and buried her chance for her third goal of the season, bringing the game level at 2–2 heading into the second intermission.
After a back-and-forth opening five minutes of the third, junior
Peyton Wise drove in onside and attempted a wraparound chance, finding herself alone in front at 5:57. Saunders, however, turned away the opportunity to keep the score tied.
Post ultimately regained its one-goal edge at 15:56 when Maddy Noonan redirected a shot home on the power play. Despite pulling the goaltender late, Stonehill was unable to net the equalizer and ultimately fell, 3–2, on home ice.
