How It Happened
Stonehill came out of the gates strong, outshooting Post 8–0 over the first four minutes of play. After earning their second power play within the opening 10 minutes of regulation, the Skyhawks capitalized when Slocum redirected a net-front shot from Whynot under the crossbar and over the shoulder of goaltender Hannah Saunders, netting what would eventually stand as the game-winning tally. Following a back-and-forth remainder of the period, Stonehill carried a 1–0 lead into the second.
Throughout the middle frame, the Skyhawks' defense—and Caron in net—held strong, turning aside 17 shots, blocking four attempts, and killing off three penalties to preserve the one-goal advantage heading into the second intermission.
Stonehill converted that defensive momentum into insurance in the third, striking twice to extend its lead. Achtyl pounced on a rebound off a
Gracie Sacca shot 4:31 into the period to bury her ninth goal of the season, and Feeney capped off the scoring at 17:05 with her first of the year.
Despite Post pulling its goalie and earning a late power play to gain a 6-on-4 advantage, Caron stood tall, maintaining the clean sheet and securing her first shutout of the season—and the fifth of her collegiate career.
