Skyhawks Fall to Top-Ranked Wisconsin in SMASHVILLE Showcase Finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 30, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's hockey team fell to the nation's top-ranked program, the University of Wisconsin, in game two of the 2025 SMASHVILLE Women's Collegiate Hockey Showcase on Sunday afternoon in Nashville, Tennessee. With the result, the Skyhawks moved to 6-9-1 overall, while the Badgers improved to 16-1-1 on the season.

Highlights
  • Junior Peyton Wise and senior Gracie Sacca scored their respective second and fifth goals of the season, while Sacca also added her fifth helper.
  • Seniors Sydney Russell and Maddi Achtyl registered their respective eighth and third assists of the year.
  • First-year student Payton Palsa paved the way at the faceoff dot, winning 11 total draws on the day.
  • Senior Eve Stone and sophomore Alexsa Caron split time in net, combining for a single-game program record 70 saves in between the pipes.

How it Happened
Wisconsin wasted little time getting on the board, striking just 22 seconds into the game when Finley McCarthy flipped a shot past Stone for her first goal of the season. Stonehill nearly found an equalizer at the 5:14 mark as senior Lucie Turcotte chipped a puck off the glass and sprung out on a breakaway, but her backhand attempt drifted just wide, keeping the Badgers in front 1–0.

Wisconsin added three more goals in quick succession — from Kirsten Simms (8:59), Lacey Eden (10:57), and Claire Enright (11:49) — sending the Skyhawks into the first intermission trailing 4–0.

The Badgers extended their lead with 13 additional goals over the final two periods, while the Skyhawks netted a pair of their own, one from Wise at 7:59 of the second and another from Sacca off an up-ice feed from Russell at 13:47 of the third.
