STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (February 17, 2025) – Junior
Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) set a meet record for the second consecutive day, winning the mile run, while graduate students
Patrick Garratt (Westwood, Mass.) and
Lois Jones (London, England) won the 5000-meter run and pole vault to lead the Stonehill College Track and Field teams to second and third place finishes at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center.
The Stonehill women's team placed second, the Skyhawks' highest finish at NEC Indoor Championships, in their third appearance in Staten Island, tallying 118.5 points. Wagner won its first-ever women's indoor championship with a record 176 points, while Saint Francis rounded out the top three with 91 points. Chicago State finished with 89 in fourth, CCSU placed fifth with 79, FDU came in sixth with 64.5, Le Moyne finished seventh with 22, and LIU came in eighth with 20 points.
For the second consecutive year, the Stonehill men's team placed third in the final standings, notching 89.5 points. Central Connecticut State won on the men's side with 179 points, while Wagner finished runner-up with 140. Chicago State scored 78 points to place fourth, Saint Francis finished fifth with 55.5, FDU was just behind the Red Flash with 55 points, followed by LIU in seventh with 48 points, and Le Moyne in eighth with 12.
Malloy was named Most Outstanding Track Performer in the distance category after winning the 3000-meter and mile race this weekend, breaking two meet records in the process.
WOMEN'S EVENTS
- Malloy set a new personal record, winning the mile race with a meet record of 4:50.86, breaking an NEC-best mark from 2006 of 4:51.71.
- Jones won the pole vault, reaching 3.65m (11' 11.75"), while classmate Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y.) placed second at 3.40m (11' 1.75"), and freshman Kendall Barton (Concord, N.H.) came in third at 3.30m (10' 10").
- The distance medley relay race team of Malloy, freshman Emmy Belvin (Chepachet, R.I.), senior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.), and sophomore Anna Casey (Medford, Mass.) won the event with a time of 11:59.47.
- Senior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) placed third in the 60-meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.83 seconds, just a hundredth of a second off her school record of 8.82 seconds.
- Lawrence also competed in the mile run final, placing eighth with a time of 5:10.46.
- Graduate student Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) finished in the final 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 56.41 seconds.
- Sophomore Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) and junior Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) finished back-to-back in the 500-meter final, with Stott finishing third in 1:17.25 followed by Tyrrell in fourth at 1:19.07.
- Lawrence and Belvin placed seventh and eighth in the 800-meter run, with Lawrence clocking in at 2:21.07, trailed by Belvin at 2:24.30.
- In the 4x400-meter relay race, the team of junior Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va.), sophomore Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.), Stott, and Encarnacao placed second, combining for a time of 3:55.65.
- Junior Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) finished seventh in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 11.05m (36' 3").
MEN'S EVENTS
- Garratt set a Stonehill program record en route to a first-place finish in the indoor 5000m race, pacing the pack at 14:30.33.
- Sophomore Dylan Brilliant (Plymouth, Mass.) finished seventh in the 5000m run, setting a new PR at 14:55.73.
- In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomores Ean Hynes (Newburyport, Mass.) and Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass) finished third and fourth, with Hynes crossing the finish line at 8.26 seconds and Tinkham finishing at 8.38 seconds.
- Freshmen Tristan Roche (Fairfield, Conn.) and Miles Burr (Trenton, Maine) came across the finish line in consecutive order in the 60-meter dash, finishing fourth and fifth with Roche at 6.99 seconds and Burr at 7.05 seconds.
- Senior Jace Hollenbach (Topsham, Maine) placed seventh and set a new PR in the mile run final, notching a time of 4:22.24.
- For the second day in a row, sophomore Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) set a PR in the 400-meter dash, placing sixth in the final with a time of 49.11 seconds.
- Senior Louis Warner (Kinderhook, N.Y.) clocked in at 1:05.08 in the 500-meter run final, placing fourth.
- Senior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.) and Burr placed sixth and seventh in the 200-meter dash final, as Drugan finished in 21.97 seconds followed by Burr at 22.02.
- The distance medley relay team of sophomore Colin Keane (Blackwood, N.J.), senior Zachary Ofurum (Brockton, Mass.), sophomore Matthew Malora (Harrington Park, N.J.), and Hollenbach placed third with a time of 10:19.37.
- In the 4x400-meter relay race, Dougherty, Drugan, Burr, and Warner combined for a time of 3:18.07, finishing third.
- Sophomore Drew Pierson (Ellsworth, Maine) placed fifth in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.93m (6' 4"), matching his personal best.
- Senior Parker Hagen (Newport, R.I.) came in fourth place in the triple jump, setting a personal record of 14.12m (46' 4").
