EASTON, Mass. (March 1, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's lacrosse team fell to Queens University, 10-9, in a tightly contested home opener at WB Mason Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks move to 1-3 on the season, while the Royals improve to 2-3.

How it Happened
Stonehill broke through to score the game's first goal with 7:24 remaining in the first quarter. On a free-position shot while a player was down, Murphy netted her first of three goals on the afternoon. Queens quickly leveled the score at 1-1 with 3:34 left in the opening frame, as Favreau connected with Greenwell for her seventh goal of the season. In the final moments of the first quarter, Murphy regained the Skyhawks' lead with her second goal, sending Stonehill into the second quarter with a 2-1 advantage.
The second quarter saw both teams trade goals, ultimately ending in a 5-5 tie at halftime. Leading the charge for Stonehill were goals from Flaherty, Murphy, and junior
Emily LaPia, while Favreau contributed two of her five goals in the period.
Queens emerged from halftime with a strong start, scoring two quick goals in the first five minutes of the third quarter to take a 7-5 lead. A free-position goal by Beigel, scored while Stonehill was a player up, cut the Skyhawks' deficit to one, and the game entered the fourth quarter with Stonehill trailing 7-6.
Just 90 seconds into the fourth quarter, Flaherty tied the game at 7. However, Queens regained momentum, scoring three unanswered goals to pull ahead 10-7 with 6:31 remaining in regulation. Despite late goals from Fealy and freshman
Caitlin Ruggeiro in the final four minutes, the Royals' lead proved insurmountable, as Stonehill dropped its home opener 10-9.
