How it Happened
URI dominated possession in the offensive zone, scoring five goals while limiting Stonehill to just three shots and no goals in the first 15 minutes. Murphy opened the scoring for the Skyhawks, netting the team's first goal just 53 seconds into the second quarter, assisted by first-year
Maia Parker.
Following Murphy's 15th goal of the season, the Rams would immediately respond, rattling off eight consecutive goals to build a commanding 11-1 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw both teams trade three total goals, including a player-up goal from Koch—the first of her collegiate career—though URI maintained control, carrying a 15-2 lead into the final frame.
While the Skyhawks matched their total over the final 15 minutes of regulation, they were unable to close the gap as the Rams' lead proved insurmountable, and Stonehill ultimately fell by a final score of 18-5.
