Semona and McGill Fuel Men’s Basketball’s Senior Day Win Over Le Moyne

Louie Semona scores 33 and Nathan McGill tallies 13 points and seven rebounds in regular season finale

EASTON, MASS. (March 1, 2025) – Sophomore Louie Semona (Cincinnati, Ohio) and senior Nathan McGill (Dillsburg, Pa.) set new career-highs in scoring to lead the Stonehill men's basketball team to an 85-79 win on senior day over Le Moyne at Merkert Gym.

LEADERS
  • Semona's career-high of 33 points came on a 10-17 shooting performance from the field while going 5-8 from three and 8-11 from the free throw line. He also had three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
  • McGill had a perfect shooting performance, going 5-5 from the field, 1-1 from deep, and 2-2 from the charity stripe en route to career-highs of 13 points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes of action.
  • Le Moyne's AJ Dancler led the Dolphins with 28 points, five rebounds, and four assists, cashing in on five three-pointers in the loss.
FIRST HALF
  • Semona scored the first eight points of the game but the Dolphins responded with a 10-2 run to tie the score, 10-10, until three straight buckets from long range put the Skyhawks back in front, 19-10.
  • Le Moyne countered again, going on a 14-4 as the Dolphins took their first lead of the game, 24-23.
  • Le Moyne kept its momentum going for the remainder of the first half, outscoring Stonehill 16-8 over the final five minutes of action with Ocypher Owens tallying seven points during the Dolphins run that gave them a 38-31 lead at the break.
SECOND HALF
  • Back-to-back buckets to open the second half gave Le Moyne its largest lead of the game, 12 points (43-31), but Semona went on a 7-0 run by himself to bring Stonehill back within five, 43-38.
  • Dancler and Owens continued to keep the Skyhawks from retaking the lead, answering every run Stonehill could put together but McGill's 13th point of the second half on a stepback jumper made it a one possession game, 71-68, with under six minutes to play.
  • Dancler knocked down his fifth three of the game to make the score 76-71 but from that moment on, it was all Stonehill. The Skyhawks went on a 12-1 run, forcing the Dolphins to miss their next six shot attempts capped off by a three-pointer from junior Ethan Meuser (Shavertown, Pa.) that made the score 81-77 in favor of the Skyhawks with 33 seconds left.
  • Semona went 4-4 from the free throw line to put the game on ice in the final 30 seconds, securing Stonehill's 85-79 win on senior day.
