Men's Tennis Drops Conference Matchup, 6-1, to Binghamton

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (March 1, 2025) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Northeast Conference opponent Binghamton University, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Forecourt Tennis Club in Cumberland, Rhode Island. With the loss, the Skyhawks fell to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Bearcats improved to 6-6 overall and 2-1 against conference opponents.
 
Highlights
  • Senior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting and junior Mark Kröll earned the lone win in doubles competition for the Skyhawks, securing their team-leading 10th win of the year as a double pairing.
  • Freshman Guillermo Bennaton posted the lone Stonehill point on the afternoon securing his third consecutive win at the No. 1 singles position.
  • Juniors Andrew Fang and James McPherson paved the way for the Bearcats as individual double winners on the day.
How It Happened
  • Kröll and Wilhelm Krefting posted a 6-4 victory at the No. 1 doubles position over juniors William Morais Binnie and Ronin Lotlikar.
  • Binghamton followed the opening match loss with back-to-back doubles wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to earn the overall doubles point.
  • Bennaton secured the lone singles win for the Skyhawks on the No. 1 singles court, defeating Morais Binnie, 6-2, 6-3.
  • Following Bennaton's triumph, Binghamton swept the remaining singles matchups to earn the overall match victory, 6-1.
  • Wilhelm Krefting battled sophomore Andre Ajed at No. 3 singles. However, Ajed prevailed victorious, 7-6, 6-3.
  • Fang and McPherson clinched their individual double wins on the afternoon with victories over Kröll and sophomore Alexis Chastang, respectively, at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles slots.
