Women’s Tennis Drops Match at Tufts, 1-6

MEDFORD, Mass. (March 1, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team traveled to the Gantcher Center for a dual-match against Tufts as the Skyhawks fell 1-6 to the Jumbos.
 
Highlights
  • After missing last match against Boston College, freshman Lilah Shallcross (Prospect, Ky.) was the lone Skyhawk to win in singles, defeating Lucy Mitchell, 6-1, 6-4, on the No. 3 court.
  • The duo of senior captain Anneliese Beltran (Mexico City, Mexico) and sophomore Julie Holte (Oslo, Norway) paired up for the first time since Feb. 17 at Le Moyne, improving to 6-0 as a duo this spring, defeating Melanie Woodbury and Stephanie Woodbury, 6-4, on the first doubles court.
How It Happened
  • Holte fell on the first singles court to Ellie Gershaw, 3-6, 4-6.
  • M. Woodbury defeated Beltran, 1-6, 2-6, on the No. 2 singles court.
  • Athena Li bested sophomore Madison Warren (Frederick, Md.) on the fourth singles court, 1-6, 2-6.
  • Freshman Arya Chabria (Columbus, Ohio) competed against Sophie Wax on the No. 5 court, falling 0-6, 2-6.
  • Sophomore Alice Brito do Rio (Angra do Heroismo, Portugal) was defeated by Nadia Khera on the final singles court, 5-7, 1-6.
  • The duo of Warren and Brito do Rio fell on the second doubles court, 1-6, to Lucy Mitchell and Rachel Cranley.
  • Chabria and Shallcross competed in a close doubles matchup on the third court, falling to Gershaw and Nikki Kintiroglou, 5-7.
