Men Finish Third and Women Place Seventh on Final Day of New England Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. (March 8, 2025) – The Stonehill College track and field team finished third and seventh overall on the final day of NEICAAA Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
 
The men's team made a massive leap from 11th place yesterday to third place today, finishing with 73 points. Rhode Island won with 127 points while New Hampshire placed second with 123 points. The Skyhawks won two events on Saturday and had four top-three finishes to climb the standings on the final day of competition.
 
After finishing day one in seventh place, the women's team finished in the same spot on the second day with 59 total points. Rhode Island secured the top spot with 134 points, Quinnipiac placed second with 109 points, and Holy Cross rounded out the top three with 97.
 
WOMEN'S EVENTS
  • Junior Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) placed seventh in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.08m (36' 4.24").
  • Setting a new personal record in the high jump was freshman Hannah Santos (Swansea, Mass.) who leapt to a third place finish at 1.69m (5' 6.5").
  • Senior Madison Rousseau (Canton, Mass.) finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles prelim race but stepped up in the finals, placing third with a time of 8.84 seconds. Rousseau also ran in the 200-meter dash final, placing seventh with a time of 25.86 seconds.
  • Junior Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) ran in her fifth mile race of the indoor season and finished second for the third time, setting a new personal record at 4:58.38.
  • Graduate student Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.) placed third in the 500-meter dash final on Saturday, clocking in at 1:14.00 for a new PR. Junior Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) finished seventh in the 500m final, crossing the finish line in 1:18.12.
  • Freshman Emmy Belvin (Chepachet, R.I.) ran in the 1000-meter final, recording a new PR in the race with a time of 3:00.07 en route to a fifth place finish.
  • The Skyhawks set a season-best mark in the 4x800-meter relay race with the team of Malloy, junior Emily Young (Newton, Mass.), freshman Sydney O'Donnell (Raynham, Mass.), and Belvin finishing in 9:34.85 to place fourth out of eight teams.
  • Tyrrell, sophomores Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.), and Encarnacao placed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay race, combining for a time of 3:55.12, another season-best time for the Skyhawks.
MEN'S EVENTS
  • After finishing in the top-eight in the 60-meter dash prelim, freshman Miles Burr (Trenton, Maine) placed fourth in the final at 6.97 seconds while senior Shea Drugan (Westfield, Mass.) clocked in at 7.04 seconds to finish seventh.
  • The same duo ran in the 200-meter dash finals, with Burr winning the race at 21.80 seconds, a new PR, and Drugan coming in third place at 22.03 seconds.
  • Sophomore Will Tinkham (Stoughton, Mass.) finished sixth in the prelim and the final of the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.46 seconds in the latter.
  • Sophomore Jon Dougherty (Reading, Mass.) placed third in the 400-meter dash final, finishing in 49.10 seconds, setting a new PR in the event.
  • Sophomore Colin Keane (Blackwood, N.J.) notched a sixth place finish in the 1000-meter race final at 2:33.99 to set a new PR.
  • Graduate student Patrick Garratt (Westwood, Mass.) paced a group of six Skyhawk runners in the 3000-meter race, four of which finished in the top 12. Garratt placed fourth with a personal-best time of 8:21.48 while sophomore Ryan Pereira (Danbury, Conn.) came in seventh place, also setting a PR at 8:34.73. Classmate Dylan Brilliant (Plymouth, Mass.) placed 10th at 8:38.73, his fastest 3000m finish.
  • In the 4x400-meter relay race, the squad of Dougherty, Burr, senior Zachary Ofurum (Brockton, Mass.), and Drugan won the event, combining for a time of 3:22.40.
  • The four-man team of sophomore Matthew Malora (Harrington Park, N.J.), junior Thomas Forde (Mystic, Conn.), junior David DiPietro (Beverly, Mass.), and Keane finished third in the 4x800-meter relay race with a season-best time of 8:01.11.
