LeClair's Grand Slam Powers Baseball Past Le Moyne in Series Finale

EASTON, Mass. (April 19, 2025) – Sophomore Ryan LeClair launched a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning to help propel the Stonehill College baseball team to a 10-7 win over Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Le Moyne College Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 12-22 overall and 11-7 in conference play, while the Dolphins dropped to 12-21 overall and 11-7 against conference opponents.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • LeClair launched his third homerun of the season, while senior Taylor Gaspar belted his ninth of the campaign.
  • Sophomore Grayson Sparr and junior Aidan Cohall registered their respective 13th and 10th multi-hit games of the season.
  • Junior Jimmy Gilleran posted his third quality start of the season and picked up his fourth win after holding the Dolphins to three runs over 6.0 innings where he struck out career high seven batters.
  • Junior Adam Martin earned his fifth save of the season after striking out one and holding Le Moyne to no hits in the top of the ninth inning.
  • Senior Benji Ries led the Dolphins' offensive output, going 3-for-5 on the day with two homeruns, a double, four runs batted in, and three runs scored.
  • Sophomore Cooper Romich went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish with two doubles and two RBI.
  • Fifth year Bobby McBridge took the loss on the mound after allowing five earned runs over 4.0 innings of work where he struck out four.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first three innings—highlighted by just two combined hits allowed by Gilleran and McBride—Le Moyne broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth. The Dolphins opened the frame with back-to-back doubles from Ries and freshman Tim Denet, setting the stage for an RBI single by Romich that gave Le Moyne a 2-0 advantage.

Stonehill wasted no time responding in the bottom half of the inning, seizing a lead it would maintain for the remainder of the series finale. Sophomore Aidan Sengenberger put the Skyhawks on the board with an RBI single through the left side. Two batters later, with two outs and the bases loaded, LeClair delivered the big blow—launching the first pitch he saw over the left field wall for a grand slam, giving Stonehill a 5-2 lead heading into the fifth.

Ries continued his impressive day at the plate, trimming the deficit with a solo home run to begin the fifth. However, Stonehill quickly widened the gap once again, plating three more runs via RBI singles from Sparr and Gaspar, along with a sacrifice fly from Sengenberger, extending the lead to 8-3.

The Skyhawks added insurance runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Cohall drove in senior Sam Parks with a single up the middle, and Gaspar capped off the scoring with his ninth home run of the season—a solo shot over the left field fence.

Le Moyne mounted a late rally in the top of the ninth, narrowing the deficit to three runs, but Martin came on in a save situation and shut the door, sealing a 10-7 win and clinching the NEC series victory for Stonehill.
