EASTON, Mass. (April 19, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's lacrosse team prevailed in a back-and-forth defensive battle against Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Le Moyne College, 9-8, Saturday afternoon at WB Mason Stadium. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 9-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play, while the Dolphins dropped to 4-12 overall and 3-5 against conference opponents.

Highlights
  • Junior Natalie Coutu led the Skyhawks offense, registering her ninth hat trick of the season after tallying five total points on the afternoon off three goals and two assists.
  • First-year attacker Meaghan Fealy scored two goals on the day, marking her fifth consecutive and sixth over the last seven games with at least two goals.

  • Junior defender Lauren Molinaro played a vital role on the Skyhawks' defensive side, registering three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

How it Happened
Stonehill opened the scoring with a quick offensive burst, as first-year Val Beigel and Coutu each netted a goal within the first five minutes of play. Le Moyne responded swiftly, scoring twice to close out the opening quarter in a 2–2 deadlock.

The second quarter featured a tightly contested battle, with both teams trading possessions but struggling to break the tie. That stalemate held until the 3:30 mark, when Barney completed her hat trick to give Le Moyne its first lead of the game. Just moments later, Coutu connected with D'Agostino, who found herself unmarked in front of the net and fired home her first of two goals on the day, knotting the score at 3–3 going into halftime.

Emerging from the break, the Skyhawks sought to recapture their early momentum. Coutu delivered again, putting Stonehill ahead 4–3 just over three minutes into the third quarter. However, Le Moyne responded with two consecutive goals to reclaim a one-goal advantage.

With just over a minute remaining in the third and the Skyhawks trailing 6–5—following respective goals from Coutu and first-year Emily Markovina—Kogan came up with a pivotal ground ball on Stonehill's defensive end. She raced the length of the field, weaving through defenders and scoring a crucial equalizer to send the game into the fourth quarter tied at six.

Le Moyne's Sara Hunter reclaimed the lead for the Dolphins just under two minutes into the final quarter. But Stonehill responded with back-to-back goals from D'Agostino and Fealy, regaining a narrow 8–7 edge with 2:13 remaining. With less than 90 seconds left in regulation, Le Moyne's Grace Detor found the back of the net to level the score once again.

On the ensuing draw, Kogan secured a critical possession for Stonehill, setting up a potential game-winning opportunity. In the final seconds, Fealy drew a foul inside the fan and was awarded a free-position attempt. Having scored the game-tying goal just minutes earlier, the first-year attacker stepped up once more, placing a shot over the shoulder of Manfredi to clinch the 9–8 victory for the Skyhawks.
