EASTON, Mass. (April 29, 2025) – Sophomore
Harper Sullivan (Glendale, Ariz.) dominated in the circle this past weekend, earning her first-career honor as Northeast Conference Pitcher of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Stonehill softball closed out its home slate at Fr. Gartland Field this past weekend, going 2-1 against FDU in a three-game series. The Skyhawks also had a midweek, non-conference doubleheader at UMass Lowell, with the River Hawks coming out on top in both games.
Sullivan earns the first NEC Pitcher of the Week award of her career after shining in the circle in both wins over the Knights this weekend. In total, she pitched 12.2 innings, allowing zero runs, 10 hits, four walks, with four strikeouts and a 1.11 WHIP.
As Stonehill celebrated its senior day and annual Coach Ken LeGrice day with a victory against the Knights, Sullivan was outstanding on both sides of the ball in the 10-9 comeback win. Pitching the final 2.2 frames, she allowed just one hit and one walk to secure the win. At the plate, the sophomore tallied four base hits in five at-bats to go along with a pair of RBI and one run scored. Sullivan's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth sparked the game-ending 7-0 rally that sealed the come-from-behind victory.
Sullivan's weekend was capped off with a 10-inning, complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over FDU. In the 10-inning marathon with the Knights, Sullivan allowed nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts as she improved to 6-3 on the season. This was Sullivan's fourth complete game on the year, and her 10 innings pitched are the most in a single game by a Skyhawk since 2022.
Sullivan's earned run average of 3.73 this season ranks tied for fifth in the NEC and tops on the Skyhawks. Her 40 earned runs allowed are the second-fewest in the conference. Not only did Sullivan excel in the circle, but also at the plate this past week. In four games, Sullivan recorded a .583 batting average (7-for-12) with three doubles, three runs scored, two runs batted in, and a walk.
Sullivan also earned her third NEC Primer Performer nod of the season while joining sophomore
Alex Sciarretto (Bristol, Conn.) and junior
Lauren Donovan (Marblehead, Mass.) as NEC Pitcher of the Week honorees this season.
Stonehill softball is back on the road on Wednesday, April 30, for a non-conference matchup at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., with the game slated for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
