HOW IT HAPPENED
Coppin State struck first in the bottom of the first inning, taking an early lead when senior
Daniel Moore grounded out, allowing junior
Gavin Grutzmacher to score from third after drawing a leadoff walk.
However, Stonehill responded immediately in the top of the second with a three-run rally to take a lead it would not surrender. The Skyhawks' surge was highlighted by a two-run double down the right field line by Zemotel and an RBI groundout by LeClair, which brought home senior
Taylor Gaspar.
Stonehill extended its advantage in the top of the third with a solo home run from Cohall, followed by an RBI double into the right-center gap by Throbahn, scoring Sparr from first to make it 5–1.
The Skyhawks' offense remained relentless, tacking on six more runs over the next two innings to take a commanding 11–1 lead by the bottom of the fifth. The outburst included a pair of RBI singles from McGee, additional run-scoring hits from Parks and Sparr, and sacrifice flies by LeClair and Cohall.
Stonehill capped its scoring with two more runs in the top of the seventh, extending the lead to 13–1. Coppin State managed to plate one run in the bottom of the frame, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback, as the Skyhawks closed out the series finale with a decisive 13–2 victory after seven innings.
