WEST POINT, N.Y. (September 12, 2025) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team opened play Friday afternoon at the Army Fall Opener, hosted at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
On the opening day of the Black Knights' season-opening tournament, the Skyhawks matched up with Marist in doubles play before taking on Hofstra in singles competition.
After dropping all three doubles matches to the Red Foxes, Stonehill bounced back in singles action, securing a pair of victories over the Pride. Junior
Jacob Borch-Nielsen outlasted Enaut Garcia in a three-set battle at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 10-8, while junior
Nicolas Arredondo claimed a win at No. 5 singles after Hofstra's Samarth Deepudass retired trailing 6-2, 5-0.
The Skyhawks pushed Hofstra in several other matches as well, with sophomore
Guillermo Bennaton (No. 1 singles) and junior
Alessandro Munoz (No. 3 singles) each taking their opponents to deciding third sets before narrowly falling.
