SMITHFIELD, R.I. (September 13, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team opened competition at the Bryant Invitational on Saturday at the Bryant Tennis Center, squaring off against student-athletes from Providence, Bryant, and Nichols.
The Skyhawks earned three doubles victories on the day, highlighted by junior captain
Julie Holte and sophomore
Lilah Shallcross, who paired for two wins. The duo first topped teammates
Camila Zuluaga Rodriguez and
Ella Franzese (6-1) before defeating Bryant's
Maria Julia Gutierrez and
Sim Sipahioglu (6-0). Sophomore classmates
Piper Remillard and
Arya Chabria added a win of their own, downing Bryant's
Nicole Isman and
Lisa Marie Dugec (6-4).
In singles play, Stonehill collected four victories. Holte battled past Bryant's Gutierrez in two tiebreak sets (4-3 [7-5], 4-3 [10-7]), while Shallcross followed with a win over Sipahioglu (4-3 [7-4], 4-1). Remillard topped Isman (4-2, 4-3 [8-6]), and first-year
Iliana deArmas earned her first collegiate singles victory against Providence's
Erika Beltran (4-2, 4-1).
