Men's Hockey Drops Opening Game of Weekend at Lindenwood

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (January 16, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's hockey team dropped a 6–2 decision to fellow NCAA Division I Independent opponent Lindenwood University on Friday night. With the result, the Skyhawks fell to 4–15–2 overall, while the Lions improved to 10–11–0 on the year.
Highlights
  • Stonehill outshot Lindenwood 32-27, while the Lions won the faceoff battle, 31-28.
  • Junior Anthony Galante and sophomore Billy Renfrew lit the lamp on their respective fourth and second goals of the season.
  • Sophomore Cole Melady dished out two assists on the night, while senior captain Frankie Ireland added his sixth assist of the campaign.
  • Sophomore Joel Lehtinen led the Skyhawks at the dot, winning a team-high nine draws on the day, while junior Dominick Campione led the squad with three blocked shots.
  • Graduate goaltender Connor Androlewicz made 21 saves on the night in between the pipes for Stonehill.

How It Happened
Stonehill struck first at the 7:17 mark of the opening frame when, after winning a board battle, Melady found Galante wide open in front of the Lindenwood crease. Galante buried a one-timer for his fourth goal of the season to give the Skyhawks an early 1–0 lead. However, three late goals—two in a span of 30 seconds—by the Lions sent the teams into the first intermission with Stonehill trailing 3–1.

The two sides went back and forth throughout the second period, combining for 17 shots on goal, but Lindenwood added to its advantage with goals at the 5:15 and 11:44 marks off the sticks of Jake Southgate and Louis-Philippe Fontaine. The pair of tallies extended the Lions' lead to 5–1 heading into the third.

Lindenwood capped its scoring at the 8:55 mark of the final period when Giovanni Morneau found the back of the net for his ninth goal of the season, pushing the Lions' lead to a game-high five. Stonehill responded late with a goal from Renfrew at 18:04, but the deficit proved too much to overcome as the Skyhawks fell by a final score of 6–2.
