Stinson Drops 20 on the Sharks; Men's Basketball Falls Short against LIU

EASTON, Mass. (Jan. 23, 2026) – The Stonehill men's basketball team fell to LIU, 66-63, in NEC action on Friday evening.
 
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Senior guard Chas Stinson was nearly perfect in the first half shooting 6-of-7 to finish with 20 points.
  • Junior center Ridvan Tutic recorded his double figure rebounds for the eighth time in his last 11 games with 10 boards.
  • Sophomore guard Hermann Koffi reached double digits with 13 points.
  • Junior guard Davante Hackett dished out four assists, while tallying eight points. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks came out with a lot of energy early. Senior guard Rex Sunderland ignited an 8-0 run, picking the pocket of Malachi Davis and drove the rock back down court for the fast break lay-up to take the 10-6 lead.


 
They did not let up, building their lead to as many as 12 due an impressive first half, by senior guard Chas Stinson. Stinson was nearly perfect from the field in the first period, shooting six-of-seven from the field as the Skyhawks took a one-point, 36-35, lead into the locker room.
 
LIU came out at the start of the second going on a 6-0 run to take a 41-36 lead, but the Skyhawks answered with a run of their own. Sophomore guard Hermann Koffi capped of a 10-2 run with a fast break lay-up to take a 46-43 advantage.
 
It appeared momentum was shifting over in the direction of the Skyhawks. Koffi drained his first and only three-pointer of the game with three minutes remaining in the game to extend the lead to six, but the Sharks responded within the final two minutes to grab their sixth conference win of the season.
