EASTON, Mass. (Jan. 26, 2026) – Senior guard
Rex Sunderland eclipsed his career single-game high in steals as he led the Stonehill men's basketball team to a 61-59 victory on a snowy Monday night. The win evened the season series with both teams winning on their home court.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior guard Rex Sunderland registered a career single-game best five steals, while dishing out four assists.
- Additionally, Sunderland netted nine points.
- Junior center Ridvan Tutic led Skyhawks with 12 points and seven rebounds.
- Sophomore Trenton Ruth came off the bench to net 12 points, including six from beyond the arc.
HOW IT HAPPENED
CCSU controlled the majority of the first half, leading by eight, 24-16, with four minutes left. But the Skyhawk answered, holding the Blue Devils scoreless and ended the period on a 7-0 to head into the break.
Coming out at the start of the second half, CCSU went back out in front by six but senior guard
Rex Sunderland ignited the Skyhawk offense on a corner three to pull within on possession. Three minutes, sophomore guard
Trenton Ruth made exploded through the lane for a driving lay-up and converted the traditional three-point play to take a 33-32 lead.
The Blue Devils responded and went ahead by six once against with five minutes to play in the game. But there was no quit in the Skyhawks. Senior guard
Chas Stinson quickly turned a turnover at one end of the floor into points at the other end and it was an energy shifter.
Trailing by one with less than 30 seconds to play Sunderland fired a bullet to Tutic the paint for eventual game-winner.
