NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Jan. 24, 2026) – The Stonehill women's basketball team went on the road and defeated Central Connecticut State by a score of 74-65 at Detrick Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
The Skyhawks improve to 7-12 overall (3-5 NEC), while the Blue Devils fall to 0-19 (0-8 NEC).
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Brooke Paquette hit the 100th three-pointer of her career in the first quarter and finished the game with 21 points, tying her season-high This marked the third-straight game Paquette made four three-pointers. Paquette also added five assists and five rebounds.
- Ella Pelletier recorded the second double-double of her career, as the freshman scored a career-best 19 points, to along with a career-high 11 rebounds.
- Julia Webster tallied 12 points and four rebounds, while Breana Delaney added 11 points.
- Shira Elkis came off the bench and scored eight points, all in the first half.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the first,
Brooke Paquette and
Ella Pelletier both scored five points apiece early, as the Skyhawks led, 12-9, at the first media timeout at the 4:16 mark. Stonehill led 16-15 after the first quarter, and early in the second, Paquette drained the 100th three-pointer of her career to keep the Skyhawks within one, 20-19.
The Skyhawks continued to shoot the ball well later in the second stanza, as Paquette, Pelletier and
Shira Elkis all drained two treys in the first half. Stonehill shot 7-of-14 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes to own a 39-27 lead heading into halftime. Pelletier led all players with 12 points at the break, while Paquette had 10. Stonehill closed the half with a 20-4 run.
In the third, Stonehill was on top, 47-33, after Pelletier hit an open jumper at the top of the paint with 5:26 left in the quarter, and the Skyhawks took a 51-43 lead into the fourth.
Afte CCSU got back within four, Paquette drained another triple to put Stonehill up by a score of 59-52 with 6:42 remaining. In the final minute and with the Skyhawks leading, 70-65,
Julia Webster grab was fouled after grabbing a rebound and put the game away by hitting two foul shots.

Stonehill (7-12, 3-5 NEC) will head back on the road to face FDU (17-4, 8-0 NEC) in a nationally televised game on ESPNU Thursday, Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.
