How It Happened
Assumption struck first in the opening period, as just 3:18 into the game Sara Field lit the lamp for her first collegiate goal. Stonehill responded four minutes later at the 7:24 mark when Combe buried her seventh goal of the season to even the score at 1–1. After a back-and-forth next 10 minutes of the frame, the Skyhawks closed the period with a pair of goals in quick succession, as Sacca and Achtyl scored back-to-back at the 19:16 and 19:58 marks to give Stonehill a 3–1 advantage heading into the intermission.
Following a successful penalty kill to open the second period, Stonehill generated sustained offensive-zone pressure, firing 14 shots over an 11-minute stretch against Jadyn Weiser and the Greyhounds' defense. Despite late power-play chances for Assumption, the Skyhawks maintained their two-goal cushion entering the third period.
Stonehill extended its lead at the 6:59 mark of the third while on the power play, as Geist fed Slocum for a one-timer over the shoulder of Weiser, marking Slocum's seventh goal of the season and fifth on the skater advantage. Assumption pulled within two at 15:06 when Avalyn Mikkelson netted her first goal of the year, but Stone stood tall down the stretch, making three high-quality saves in the closing minutes to secure the Skyhawks' 4–2 bounce-back victory.
