Men's Basketball Slips Against Chicago State on the Road

CHICAGO (Feb. 12, 2026) – The Stonehill men's basketball team split the season series with Chicago State, falling to the Cougars in NEC action on Thursday evening.
 
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sophomore guard Hermann Koffi netted 12 of his 15 points in the second half to lead three in double figures.
  • Junior guard Davante Hackett was three-of-five from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points while dishing out four assists.
  • Senior guard Chas Stinson also reached double figures with 11 points.
  • Senior forward Ethan Meuser added eight points, while pulling down six boards. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Chicago State took control of the game early on, building a 10-0 lead before junior guard Davante Hackett drained a three to put the Skyhawks moments after the first media timeout. But the Cougars remaining hot offensively from the floor shooting 62.5% from the field to take a 19-point lead into the break.
 
Returning to the floor at the start of the second half, the Skyhawks were not backing down and showed their resilience, cutting the deficit to single digits twice in the last three minutes. Senior guard Chas Stinson found Hackett at the wing for a wide open three to bring the Skyhawks to within nine.
 
The Cougars knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 11, but graduate student Raymond Espinal-Guzman responded with a fast-break dunk in bring it back to single digits. But it was as close as the Skyhawks would get as Chicago State hung on for their fourth conference win of the season.
