EAST MEADOW, N.Y. (February 13, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's hockey team skated to a 3-1 victory over NCAA Division I Independent rival Long Island University Friday afternoon. With the result, the Skyhawks improved to 7-20-2 overall, while the Sharks slipped to 11-15-1 on the season.

How It Happened
In a back-and-forth first period that featured early power-play chances for both sides, it was Stonehill who struck first. At the 9:06 mark, Chambers set up Banquier, who fired home his second goal of the season — and second in as many games — to give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead.
After carrying that one-goal edge into the second, LIU answered 12:41 into the stanza. Following a shot off the far pad of Lipskis by Isaac Lambert, Trevor Griebel collected the rebound near the blue line and blasted a shot from the point for his second goal of the year, knotting the score at 1-1. Stonehill responded with pressure, peppering Daniel Duris and the Sharks' defense with 16 shot attempts, but LIU held firm to send the game into the third period even.
The Skyhawks wasted little time reclaiming momentum in the final frame. Just 3:16 in, Renfrew found Banquier for his second goal of the game, marking the first multi-goal performance of his collegiate career. After a tightly contested final stretch, Stonehill sealed the 3-1 victory when Romer buried an empty-net goal at the 18:34 mark.
