Women's Tennis Opens NEC Play with Statement 6-1 Win Over Binghamton

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (February 15, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's tennis team earned a dominant 6-1 victory over NEC foe Binghamton University Sunday afternoon at the ForeCourt Tennis Courts in Cumberland, Rhode Island. With the win, the Skyhawks improved to 1-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while the Bearcats fell to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in NEC competition.

Stonehill claimed the doubles point with a clean sweep across all three flights. Sophomore duo Arya Chabria and Lilah Shallcross notched their third win of the season at No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 triumph over Angel Walia and Apara Khandare. Junior Julie Holte and senior Anneliese Beltran followed at No. 1 doubles, defeating Loren Cuomo and Nitya Vyas, 6-4. First-year Iliana deArmas and junior Madison Warren completed the sweep on the No. 3 court with a 6-2 victory against Adelie Wilson and Samantha Jaros.

Despite Vyas handing the Bearcats their lone point with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Beltran, the Skyhawks remained in control during singles play. Holte, Chabria, and deArmas each won their matches in straight sets, while Shallcross and Warren fought through three-set battles. Holte defeated Cuomo 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Chabria and deArmas picked up their fifth and sixth wins of the season at No. 5 and No. 6 singles against Jaros and Wilson, respectively.

Shallcross edged Khandare 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, and Warren closed out the day with a thrilling 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory over Walia on the No. 2 singles court, sealing the Skyhawks' commanding team win.
