EASTON, Mass. (Feb. 19, 2026) – The Stonehill women's basketball team earned its second-straight win, as the Skyhawks topped New Haven by a score of 62-58 at Merkert Gymnasium Thursday evening.
The win improves Stonehill to 10-15 overall (6-8 NEC), while the Chargers fall to 7-18 (5-9 NEC).
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Brooke Paquette tallied a season-best 22 points, hitting four three-pointers, and finishing with six assists and five rebounds. Paquette now has 979 points in her career.
- Ella Pelletier netted 12 points and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
- Julia Webster scored 12 points on 6-of-10 shooting.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Skyhawks came out flying in the first quarter, as Ella Pelleter nailed a trey from the wing at the 7:46 mark, forcing an early timeout for the Chargers. Stonehill led, 18-12, through the first quarter of action. In the second, New Haven came back to the score, 22-22, but Pelletier broke the tie with a long jumper with just over two minutes left in the half.
Stonehill carried a 28-25 lead into the break, as Pelletier paced all players with nine points, shooting 4-of-5 from the field in the first 20 minutes. In the second half, the Skyhawks opened up a 33-25 advantage on the scoreboard, and then
Brooke Paquette nailed back-to-back three-pointers from the wing to keep Stonehill in front, 44-32.
After outscoring New Haven by a 24-12 margin in the third quarter, the Skyhawks carried a 52-37 lead into the final period of play. The Chargers opened the fourth in a 9-0 run to pull within, 52-46, but
Julia Webster responded with layups on consecutive possessions to push the lead back to 58-50. In the final moments, New Haven cut it to 60-58 with 21.6 seconds remaining, but Paquette hit two foul shots to preserve the win.
