How It Happened
LeClair got the Skyhawks off to a strong start, leading off the game with a hard-hit single up the middle. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by graduate student
Sam Parks, LeClair moved to third on a groundout by Lundquist. Despite having a runner in scoring position in the opening frame, Stonehill was unable to plate a run.
FGCU wasted little time, scoring three times in the bottom of the first. A two-run double from Javier Gorostola and a sacrifice fly by Jaret Nelson gave the Eagles an early 3-0 advantage.
After a scoreless second, FGCU extended its lead with two runs in the third and another in the fourth. Key hits included a solo home run from Jon Embury, an RBI single from Wilfred Gonzalez, and an RBI double by Evan Dempsey.
The Eagles added to the final tally in the sixth with a solo homer from Gorostola and a three-run home run from Embury, marking his second of the game and sealing the 10-0 victory.
