How It Happened
Stonehill wasted no time getting on the board as Grainda scored just 1:13 into the first period, following a loose puck in the neutral zone and a powerful shot off the pipe into the net, giving him his 10th goal of the season. Midway through the frame, at 9:32, Posma doubled the Skyhawks' lead, scoring his first goal since joining Stonehill this season. Stonehill dominated the remainder of the period, generating 17 shots while holding LIU shotless over the final 11 minutes.
LIU got on the board in the second period at 12:11 with Casey McDonald's fourth goal of the season. Stonehill quickly regained its two-goal cushion at 15:56 when Lagerbäck scored a remarkable no-look, behind-the-back goal that would stand as the game-winner. Before the period ended, Nick Bernardo connected on a shot at 19:20, assisted by Luca Lehighton and McDonald, to bring the Sharks within one and send the game into the break with Stonehill up 3–2.
The third period saw both teams exchanging power-play opportunities and shots. Despite being outshot 11–7 in the final 20 minutes and facing a 6-on-5 disadvantage with the Sharks' net empty late in the game, the Skyhawks held firm, securing a narrow 3–2 victory on home ice.
